So there’s a new Social Platform called RVillage. It’s kind of like Facebook, but designed for campers/RV’ers to be able to connect both when they’re on the road or at home.
One of the neat things about RVillage is that as you move around the country, users “check-in” and change their location, specifically calling out the campground they’re in that day. The site then announces your arrival to other folks already in that park.
RVillage has GROUPS much like Facebook and the users set up these groups and all users can browse and join the groups that interest them.
So when we arrived at Rover’s Roost in Casa Grande, AZ I checked in and soon we were welcomed (virtually) by John and Gerri. Turns out they were in the spot right across the lane from us! I invited them over and we had a nice visit.
John retired from NCR in Dayton, OH 13 years ago and they have been full-timing ever since. They used to pull their fifth wheel trailer with a Freightliner truck (along with a honda behind the trailer!), but now they’ve parked the fifth wheel permanently at Rover’s Roost and they have a smaller (class C) Winnebago to travel in (similar to this one in the pix)
We enjoyed visiting with them and learning about the full-time life style, campgrounds & RV parks around the country, the Escapees organization, and just general conversation that included a lot of helpful tips for traveling.
So we’ve found that for us Facebook is a wonderful way of staying in touch with old friends and family while RVillage is a great way of meeting new folks right in your own back yard!
