We married in 1974, having grown up in Redford Township, Michigan where we first met in high school. Our social circle at the time consisted mostly of friends in our church youth group and our church family has remained central throughout our adult lives regardless of where we lived or which church we attend.
In the early years, Herb worked for Xerox as a copier Service Rep in the Detroit area while Kathy was a stay at home Mom raising our two children, David and Sara.
Herb changed jobs, working for a hospital medical equipment manufacturer, first as a Field Service Rep in the Detroit area and later the company moved the family to Ohio where Herb took over responsibility for the service division eventually being responsible for a seven state territory.
When we moved to Ohio, and with David and Sara now in grade school, Kathy got involved with the school, first as a volunteer, then a job in the Board of Ed Central Office, then a teacher’s aide, and eventually working as secretary to the school principal.
Kathy retired from the school system in 2010 and since then has worked as a pharmacy technician and later as a home companion for a local senior citizen in need of a little help around the house. She finally quit working outside the house altogether in June of 2016.
Herb worked in the medical equipment repair field as Service Manager from 1984 until 1998 when he quit that job (too much time spent away from home covering seven states) and changed careers to residential real estate sales.
Herb “retired” from being self-employed as a successful Realtor Sept 1, 2016 and we climbed into our motor home and hit the road on Sept 3rd.
